Anthony P. McAndrew, Ph.D, 66, of Westminster, Mass., died Friday after an illness. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Claire Coyne McAndrew, also formerly of Scranton.

Born Jan. 20, 1948, in Scranton, he was the only child of the late Anthony E. and Helen Mullen McAndrew and resided on Pittston Avenue. He was a graduate of Scranton Central High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree and Ph.D from Lehigh University before embarking on a career as a mathematician.

Also surviving are his sons, Brendan McAndrew, Greenbelt, Md.; Neal McAndrew, Westminster, Mass.; and Eric and wife, Sarah McAndrew of Easton, Mass.; and grandchildren Alex, Taylor and Logan.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Edward the Confessor Church, Westminster, Mass.
