Joyce Megela (Myrthel)

Joyce Myrthel, 53, a lifelong resident of Scranton, died Tuesday morning at the hospice unit at Mid-Valley Hosptial, Peckville, after a lengthy illness.

Born June 28, 1947, in Scranton, daughter of Marion Pasco Megela, Scranton, and the late Charles Megela, she was a 1965 graduate of Scranton Central High School. She attended St. Joseph's Church, North Scranton, and was employed as a bookkeeper by Parente Randolph P.C., Scranton, until her illness.

Her companion is George Kozlansky, Scranton.

Also surviving are two sons, Scott, Bethlehem; and Wade, Dickson City; two sisters, Linda Williams, Orlando, Fla.; and Donna Robacker, Scranton; three brothers, Charles Megela, Ocala, Fla.; Edward Megela, Gouldsboro; and William Megela, South Canaan; aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; and cousins.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday at 11:45 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, North Main Avenue at Theodore Street, to be celebrated by Monsignor Peter P. Madus, pastor. Interment, Abington Hills Cemetery, South Abington Township.

There will be no calling hours.
