STEVEN SPITZ , 61, of East Meadow, Long Island, N.Y., died Saturday, October 10, 2009, at the Northport Veterans Hospital, Northport, Long Island, N.Y. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served two tours in Vietnam.

Steven was employed as a salesman for Fitchburg Coated Products until his retirement. He was a son of the late Maurice and Celia Spitz of Scranton.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Rosalyn Germain. He is survived by his close friend, Doreen Berger, and her son, Todd, of East Meadow, Long Island, N.Y.; also by his brother, Harold Spitz, and his wife, Shirley; and nephew Michael, of Kingston.

A military funeral was conducted by Rabbi Eckstein on Oct. 13 at the Calverton National Cemetery, Long Island, N.Y.
