Evelyn Piat (Parsons) - Class Of 1957 VIEW PROFILE

Evy came to our class in our senior year.  Janice Painter, one of Evy’s close friends, recalls that Evy’s mother was a New York City school official, her father a doctor.  Our yearbook says she hoped to be a model.  To date, we have found very little information on her life after leaving school.  Two or three friends prefer not to talk about the course of her life except to say it ended tragically.

Evie attended Glenwood Landing elementary, and some of her hardships started there.  A classmate from 4th grade remembers that Evy’s physical development was far ahead of others in the class and that boys began to make fun of her in unpleasant ways, and that their teacher, a man, had no control over the class and their teasing.  She also went to live for a while with her father in Florida, then returned to live with her mother and attend Sea Cliff High.

She and Ron Santonastasi were close for a while and he and a few other friends tried to help when she had emotional problems that may have led to attempted suicide and had to be hospitalized.

Soon after leaving school she married Artie Parsons and they lived in Glen Head.  She had a daughter named Katharine.  (Evy’s middle name in our yearbook is ‘Kathryn” but in other publications, Katharine, as is her daughter’s.)

Below is her obituary from the Glen Cove Record-Pilot.
