Class of 72 Reunion
Posted Tuesday, January 31, 2012 07:24 PM

This is Feb, 1st and the organizing committee is finalizing the plans for venue. We have an issue with the dates for the Sandtrap and there is a motion to move the dates out one week and do the weekend after the 14th. Anyone have any concerns with this?

At this point there is little support for an all class reunion. Do you care if we have one?

If there is enough interest we should try to put it together....Keep it simple and if we do have an All Class reunion....how about some other classes helping to get it together.....The Elks is an easy venue but it takes alot of people attending to make it worthwhile so maybe a different venue would be better......Just a thought....as for moving the 40th reunion for the class of 1972 a week later should work and the Sand Trap was fun ......They did a good job for our 35th so if we all know with plenty of notice most should be able to make it work for them........Great to see you guys doing your usual efficient job of getting this together...Can't wait to see you all again......:-)LG

Hey, I care if we have one as I want to see all of you.......I'm bringing my Mom, Sister Amy, Brother

Eric and sisiter in law Patricia.....we chose this venue to celebrate my Mom's BD...remember she and Amy were at the 35 th reunion.

If we can find our venues better by moving the date up one week, that's fine with me......my family is

waiting to book airline flights as there are 5 of us coming...let's hurry up and make our venue bookings.

Does anyone else have  an issue about moving it up a week.....is it Sept 12-22 that we are talking about?

I know we are all very busy but we have to participate to make this happen.  Roger and committee thanks so much for all the time you have already spent on this.

It is now Feb. 8th and it appers that the Sandtrap has been eliminated from the discussion of a venue possibility. Saturday nights are too expensive, Too many mates cannot make a Friday event,  and there is no support for moving the dates into October.

Currently we are discussing the Shiloh or Best Western Banquet room for a Class of 72 Event, this woud be a Saturday function.

The all class event discussion has moved towards a more casual gathering than last time. More of a mixer at either Mike McClures place, or maybe the Legion. There are none willing to undertake the effort of a large event as we had last time at the Elks.

Comments?

I think Friday night at Mike's and Saturday at the Legion is brilliant!

Hi classmates...is it that we had such a perfect reunion 5 years ago that we are not getting behind this one?  Thank you to those that keep it moving.  January and February are work hard months for me but I am here and loved all I did last time.  Simple may be good.  Establish a date, a venue for us and see what other interested alumni would like to help with an all class reunion.

PS:  I am partial to the Shilo since my friend, Carol, handles the banquets.  You can't help but love her! :)

I vote for the Shilo on Saturday night and as for a Friday event keep it simple......Keeping it on the same weekend seems like a better idea to me......as usual you guys are putting in the effort to get this done so I am sure it will all fall into place......Looking forward to seeing you all again this year...:-)

Oops, I think I might have posted my reply in the message forum instead of the discussion forum.  Hope I got it right this time.

I'm in agreement with others who have posted their thoughts.  Friday at Mike's and Saturday at the Legion, or some other affordable venue sounds good.

We're getting some good feedback here!  It's sounding like several of us would like to give McClure the opportunity to put on the "All School Bash" this year and to have our own reunion dinner at one of the venues previously discussed.  What about a reunion house again?  Is everyone in favor of putting up a little extra money to rent one?  If we have the dinner at the Shilo they have an apartment we could rent that will accomodate 25 people or so.  Would this be acceptable to everyone to use as our reunion house?

Let's hear it!

Relief Pitcher Friday is perfect, and the Legion for the large gathering Sat works as well. I am on the RH, but won't have anything secure for a little longer. The Gearhart House is a great house to congregate and I'm hoping things get worked out there with new owners soon. Will advise. West

That's terrific West!!  Glad you're still on board with that.  It sounds like most are in favor of letting Mike host on Friday night.  If we can secure one of the venues for Saturday the 15th then we can still keep our original dates, if that's okay with everyone else.

To me, I think it should be the weekend that we can get the best turn-out.  If the the weekend of the 15th seems to be the one, I vote to move forward. West

May I suggest that Craig, Bill and Susan visit the three sites, together if possible,  and make a decision for the class as to which would be the better?

Would you three be willing to do that? You could be the site selection committe and we could get this decided.

Please. Pretty Please? I will spring for Susans drinks. :-)

No problem. We just need to coordinate the best time to do it. I already believe that RP on Friday night is a winner! So, it's really which venue would be best for Saturday night, in my opinion. Refresh my memory. Are the prices the same for both? West

Roger, you are much toooo generous.

Craig and Bill, what are your schedules?  I have time this Saturday, late afternoon, open all day Sunday which is not a great viewing time.  Next week and weekend our full, except for Tues, Thurs or Friday late afternoon, evening.  The 21st & 27th are totally open at this time....:)

I'm with you Craig....I think RP is a done deal if everyone else agrees.  If so, someone will just need to give Mike a call and let him know that he's in charge of the Friday night "All Class Bash".

Bill will need to confirm but I think both Shilo and BW were close to the same price.  The Legion of course would probably be the least expensive.  Bill seemed to favor the BW because they seemed the most interested in getting our business.

Late Saturday afternoon works for me. I think the sooner the better so we can secure our venues and start the planning process. Let's make contact by phone after we agree what day to meet, if that's okay with you and Bill. My # is (503)-738-2838. West

I will contact Mike. I see him all the time anyway. Are we all in favor of RP friday night? West

Craig,

Looking back at my notes the prices at the Shilo and BW are very similar. I am willing to meet next week and visits the locations needed, it has been a few years since I have been in either place. Weekdays are probably best since neither venue is that busy this time of year during the week. Tuesdays and Thursdays are better for me, morning or afternoon (I have things scheduled but able to rearrange with a little notice), evenings are out, I am instructing a class two nights a week and have drill on a third.

Susan and Craig if we are all willing to do this lets see if we can set a date and time that works best for us and get it knocked out.

Bill,

Are you saying tomorrow, late afternoon, won't work? And I would like to take a look at the Legion if other mates think that would be an option. Lots of off street parking there, and kind of a funky venue that might work. If the price is right, it just might be a good option in these tight economic times.
