Linda Louise Vrtis, of Bothell, Washington, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2009. She was 60 years old.
Linda was born May 11, 1949, in Tacoma, Washington, to James and Beverly Tullis. She lived in Tacoma until she was nine and then moved to Seattle. Linda graduated from Holy Names Academy and attended Gonzaga University. She earned an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Ventura College and became a registered nurse in 1984. She later earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing at Cal State Dominguez Hills in California.
Linda worked in many fields of nursing from being a floor nurse, to running the California Heart Institute in Ventura, California, to being a public health nurse. She spent the last 10 years working for King County as a public health nurse, focusing on communicable diseases.
Linda was an avid sports fan. She loved rooting for the Seahawks and Mariners and was especially fond of the University of Arizona - Wildcats, where her sons graduated from college. She also enjoyed collecting teddy bears and Beanie Babies. She was known for her love of all of the holidays and enjoyed vacationing in Cannon Beach, Oregon.
Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her parents, James Tullis of Bellevue and Beverly Tullis of Seattle, her sister Colleen Volberding of Kirkland, her brother Michael Tullis of Redmond, her brother David Tullis of Eatonville, her son Brian Vrtis of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, her son Jason Vrtis of Menifee, California, and her daughter Kari Wolford of Folsom, California; and her two grandchildren Jack Vrtis and Jillian Wolford.
A funeral mass was held at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Bellevue on Friday, July 31, 2009.
