Kathy lived part way up the side of an active volcano on the southern tip of Hawaii's Big Island. From this setting, she enjoyed the morning rain showers, bright afternoon sun, and spectacular sunsets.
Kathy's love for animals was truley special. From her mountainside residence, tropical birds, lonely geckos, a hungry dog, or a wayward goat found shelter and food in her jungle sancuary.
We met a few times per year for lunch or happy hour in the town of Kona. I believe her favorite time was our annual meeting, at her favorite beach sports bar, for The Seahawks 7:00 am kickoff.

Kathy Spang grew up near Scott Leipper and me, Pre- High School.
A bit of a tomboy at the time, she would come by and ride on my mini-bike throught the trails and woods behind my folks house.
Kathy attended Soph class at Roosevelt High, Junior year at Nathan Hale, Senior year at Shorecrest.
As a Senior at Shorecrest, Kathy unbelievably had a job, an appartment, and lived on her own, all while attending Shorecrest High.
Roger Ness and I were locker partners, senior year, with Kathy.
Kathy lived over 40 years in Hawaii with her partner Joe.
