Michael passed away this past Sunday in NYC. He was an accomplished designer. As I have seen nothing in the SC papers I thought it okay to post here. His good friend from Iva tells me the family might have a memorial service his birthday weekend. He had been suffering from a rare lymphoma since July. RIP Michael. You were loved and you will be missed.

Walhalla, SC—Michael Lee Burrell, 49, of 867 Riverside Drive, New York NY, formerly of Walhalla, SC, died Sunday, December 5, 2010, at St. Luke Roosevelt Hospital, NY.

A native of Seneca, Mr. Burrell was the son of Lola Alexander Burrell of Seneca and Ralph Edwin Burrell of Walhalla. He was an interior designer in New York and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Burrell is survived by brothers, Ralph E. (Eddie) Burrell, Jr. (Tracey) of Seneca and Gregory Burrell (Cathy) of Idaho Springs, CO; and step-mother, Elaine Burrell.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 18, 2010, from the Chapel of Davenport Funeral Home, Walhalla.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rocky Knoll Baptist Church Food Bank, 970 Highlands Highway, Walhalla, SC 29691.

Michael:

Forever you will be in my thoughts and heart. We were the best of kindred spirits. I hope you are now at PEACE and free from worries and pain. I will always remember your birthday since it is the same as mine. Soar High my Friend for you are now in the stars and shining bright.  It is a great loss that everyone whom you have touched. I was glad to had seen you and talked to you at the reunion for that time will forever be in my heart and mind. My heart and sympathies go with you where ever you are. GOOD-BYE MY FRIEND.
