Mr. Coleman was my Physical Chemistry lab partner in the fall of 1968 at Clemson. I was very pregnant - my daughter was born Nov. 15th. He and I were a little older than most of the students, so, I expect that was why we were partnered. He was always helpful, kind and a gentleman, in the somewhat awkward situation. He taught me a lesson I still use today and pass on to the staff I work with. At the in-service meeting before the schools integrated, he said to the combined faculty, "We are here for one purpose, to teach the children. Let's go do it!" He cleared all the clutter. I now run a non-profit feeding at-risk children in ther summer and providing them with a fun day-camp style experience. Our motto is - We do it for the children. I tell my staff that everything we do, we keep that in mind. Everything else we have to do is done so we can serve the children. Mary Lou Edens
