Ben passed away in January of 2004 from a heart attack.
He left behind a daughter (Sloan) and a son (Ben).

Benjamin "Ben" Kilgore Chreitzberg III, 38, of 103 Medinah Drive,Easley,S.C. ,husband of Melissa Smith Chreitzberg, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at his home.
Born in Bowling Green, Ky., he was the son of Benjamin Kilgore Jr. and Betty Jean Phillips Chreitzberg. He was a graduate of Clemson University, was former manager of Gerber Childrenswear and Intex and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, of Stuart, Fla.; parents, of the home; a daughter, Kathleen Sloan Chreitzberg, of Stuart; a son, Ben Chreitzberg IV, of Stuart; a sister and brother-in-law, Lisa Jean and Dennis Bryant, of Trion, Ga.; a niece, Virginia Nell Bryant; and a nephew, Alex Bryant.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Easley First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. John Adams and the Rev. Jimmy Skinner. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, at the church.

I miss Ben. His passing was a shocker. Much too young! He always treated me well. I remember playing baseball against him in Little League. I think he even pitched some. I wish I could speak with some of his family members now to reflect and remember. We met up at his house a few times to work on the class float. Do you other SHS'83 remember?Doug Stephens (1983)

I think Ben was almost first in line for our pep ralleys. Sometimes people would refer to Ben as "that guy in our class that looks like a senator or attorney." I knew Ben as fun and sincere. I hold our class play, "Absolutely Murder" as a picture to remember. Ben was spactaculer as were the rest! He was such a great sport putting that gel in his hair to look all wet...remember? I also think of our fourth grade field trip to Clemson, where in the back seat, Benjamin announced to me that his middle name was Kilgore. I didn't believe him until his mom confirmed it. This funeral was one of the saddest I have ever attended, "too soon" was all I could think of!! I don't have a childhood memory that did not contain Ben because Mildred was right across the street. All those years of doing the homecoming floats in his garage. We had a blast!! Always my friend and always fondly remembered!! I miss you dearly!!!

I think of Ben often. Ben was the "class of 83." He was our leader and our dear friend. Some of us got together this past weekend and remembered our times with Ben. He will never be forgotten. Wish you were here!!!
