Terence served in the US Army, His passion was riding his motorcycle. Most of all, Terence loved his family and Children.

SENECA — Throughout his nine-month battle with leukemia, Terence Allen, of Seneca, braved the disease with the same class and dignity that always made him such a special individual to those who knew and loved him.

Allen, whose need of a bone marrow transplant was featured in an October article in the Daily Journal and Daily Messenger, lost his battle Sunday morning. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.

The Rev. Thomas Allen described his son as “real humble and quiet.”

“He didn’t complain a lot even though he was suffering all the time,” Rev. Allen said Monday afternoon. “Even when he was in the hospital for 11 weeks, he never complained and never pushed for going home.”

Although Terence was indeed able to return home the final two weeks of his life, his father said the family is grateful that he slipped away peacefully.

“We just thank the Lord that He took him when He did,” Rev. Allen said. “He didn’t allow him to suffer any more.”

During the October interview, Terence said he lived a very active life of work and enjoying the outdoors before being diagnosed with the disease. When word came that Terence, who had lost 60 pounds, needed a bone marrow transplant, a Benefit and Bone Marrow Testing Drive was held last November in an effort to find a match.

Sadly, Terence became too ill to receive the transplant. Terence leaves behind four children, ranging in age from 9 to 19.

Rev. Allen said his family is appreciative of the prayers and support they have received from throughout the community during the time of Terence’s illness and passing.   By: James Simmons 03/23/09
