Keith Hodges (1967)

Anyone who attended SAHS during any year that Mark was there remembers him, whether because he was a tremendous athlete (baseball and basketball), leader (student body president in 1967), yearbook staff and a dozen other activities.

But mostly we remember him because he was just plain and simply, a good guy and friend to all. Infectuous sense of humor and willing to help anyone with anything.

I could go on for hours, but want to give other classmates some fresh pages to write upon.

Jim Mendelson (1967)

Keith said it so very well!  Mark was a tremendous guy, friend and athlete.  I always think of him when I hear the first two lines in the Bruce Springsteen song Glory Days.  I regret not being able to see him again other than on Zoom after all these years.  We all are much richer having known Mark.

Pat Scanlan (1966)

Mark was the quintessential class cut up, a very smart guy and a fantastic baseball pitcher who threw in the low 90’s as a junior at SAHS.  He went on to play at the best baseball school in the states, at U of Arizona. 

Mark always cheered everybody up whenever they ran into him.  He had a personality that never quit and he will be missed.  Like many of us, Mark had quite a backstory, and I wonder if Steve would consider sharing some of Mark’s life stories with us.  

Everybody’s life matters, and death is a hard concept to accept.

Buddy Wootten (1967)

Keith, Jim and Pat were right on spot with their memories. He had a way of making everyone feel special and I loved him like a brother. I always called him Will and he called me Wog so Will  as you are seeing this post just know how much I will miss you old friend. Your best Buddy, Wog

Barbara Britton (Galang) (1967)

Mark was a bright light in the lives of those who knew him.  So funny, athletic, intelligent, but most of all a kind friend.  I feel blessed to have been able to communicate with him over the past few years and know how much his friends and family meant to him.  Rest in blessed peace my friend.
