Mel was a very handsome and popular guy at SAHS. He had a Beach Boys - surfer look about him with thick and long blonde hair. He just might have been one of the most popular stduents at SAHS.

His brother Reggie (SAHS Class of '67) and Mel played together with two others in a band called the Barefoots. They and the competing band (Julius and the Romans) were the two top bands for all the SAHS sock hops - though we were wearing shoes by then.

Mel's passing when he was so young shocked and saddened us all.
