It's great to finally connect with SAHS! After leaving Korea we were assigned to Ft Eustis Va. I attended Ferguson High School. After graduation i got the notice that it was time to serve my country. So, like everyone else trying and wishing to get into the Air Force I went down to enlist. However, there was a 6-8 week waiting list just to take the entrance test. The Navy was the same. So I followed the steps of my Dad and enlisted in the Army. After basic training at Ft Bragg I was assigned to Ft Eustis Transportation School to be trained as a Transportation Control Movement Specialist. On completion of this training I had orders to Ft Sheridan Canal Zone with a brief stop (waiting for my order to arrive) at Ft Story right on Virginia Beach. Finally getting to Panama I was re-assigned to the Air Force at Howard AFB. So I really got my wish to work for the Air Force. I had a nice job working every other day assigning port calls and working the front desk in the Air Passenger Terminal. NICE JOB! Was there until I left the military in 1969. I got married but some years later we divorced. Then going to several different colleges and getting my degree, I settled down to a quite life working again for the government, Civil Service in Transportation....again! After leaving Civil Service and thinking it would be nice just to relax and enjoy something that I really wanted to do, that didn't happen. I went back to work and I started teaching 5th and 6th grade which I loved to do. However, the body told me otherwise. I was diagnosed with skin cancer. It was all those months, 2 1/2 years, in the sun on the beach in Panama. I am a cancer survivor in remission for almost 11 years now. I do continue to teach as a substitute teacher.

The family arrive in Korea March 1964. We lived in Pusan so I had to live in the Dorm. Became a 'Dorm Wanderer and gave Mr. Grieshaber a very hard time! I'm sure he was glad to see that year end! Boy, there are some stories I can tell about those few months in the old Dorm. The next year the new 2 story dorm was built and was alot better than the one before. Life in the Dorm is something I will always remember. Roommates, Dale Spurrell, Terry Mitchell and Mike Mitchell, all of us got into toooo much trouble! The train rides are another story. Ask Greg Dess, he really loved to ride the train. He and Sherry Schoffstall were always doing homework on the train (check out page 58 in the 1966 yearbook). Greg says it was just studying, but from what I saw it was...well you'll just have to ask Greg or Sherry what they really were up to!! I have many memories in my Junior year. One is Mr Smith, we all remember giving our essay in front of the class. And book reports, my first book report was a James Bond novel which he didn't like and let me know straight away that subject material was not acceptable! I have all the James Bond movies made up to date. Another memory is Mr D (Mr Dobovsky) and Drivers Ed. Boy was that a challenge but was alot of fun. All the dances, Snowball and staying up for the weekend for other activities are fond memories as well. Unfortunately in Dec of 1965 we were assigned back to the States only wishing I could have stayed and graduated from SAHS.
