Eddie Floyd Lane (1942 - 2007)Eddie Floyd Lane was born June 6, 1942 in Monroe, Oklahoma to Floyd and Mary (Williams) Lane. In 1944 the family moved to California and Eddie attended local elementary schools and graduated from Shafter High School with the Class of 1960. Eddie entered the Army in 1964 and was honorably discharged in 1970. During his time in the service Eddie was trained as a truck driver and continued in this occupation in his civilian life. He worked for Marshall Sexton Trucking, West-North-West Trucking and various other trucking companies, retiring in 2004. Eddie married Jessie Charlene Crump July 27, 1973. After a long battle with cancer Jessie Charlene passed away October 28, 1998. Eddie loved his grandchildren and they were an important part of his life, he attended their sporting events and other activities and always cheered them on. Eddie was an avid motorcyclist and was a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association (CMA) and went on many motorcycle runs, including charity runs and the Toys-for-Tots run. He drove across the United States on his motorcycle "Joe Cool" to Washington D.C. to participate in the Rolling Thunder XIX "Run for the Son" Memorial Day ceremonies in 2006. Later in life Eddie began to truly live for Jesus. He read his Bible daily and loved to share his faith with everyone he met. He bought crosses to distribute and would share the good news of Jesus to anyone who would listen. He never turned people away who needed his help. He was loved by all and will be missed greatly. Eddie was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church of Shafter, the Christian Motorcycle Association and the American Legion. Eddie is survived by his daughters, Debra Hill and her husband Jeremy of Bakersfield, Cynthia Lane of Bakersfield, and Kimberly Smith and her husband Steve of Shafter, son Billy D. Braisher of Bakersfield; grandchildren, Jazmin E'Lane Smith (named after her Papa), Ariel Smith, Christina Lane, Meagan Hill, and Jeremy Hill, Jr.. Brother, Billy Wayne Lane of Mulberry, Arkansas; sister, Maggie Elnora Inman of Anchorage Alaska; and a host of other family members and friends. Eddie was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, his parents, brother, Thomas Jack Lane and sister, Martha Vivian Sexton. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 19th at 2pm at Free Will Baptist Church for Eddie Floyd Lane, age 65, who passed away November 12, in Oklahoma.
