In Memory

Dorothy E Tapper (Goldman)

It is with sadness that we share with you the passing of our classmate and friend, Dorothy Tapper Golden, on July 23rd in Manhattan, N.Y. Her husband, S. Howard Goldman, predeceased her in 1997. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Barbara Siskin, and son, Mark Polansky, two grandsons and two step sons, Jeff and Jim Goldman.

Dorothy taught, and was a tenured professor, in the department of interior design and architecture at Wentworth Institute of Technology. She became an avid collector of art. At one time Dorothy and her husband owned an original copy of the U.S. Constitution which she sold to help finance her philanthropy in art and history. She was well respected and a most generous philanthropist. (see the NY Times article below).

Dorothy will be remembered, fondly, by all who knew her.

May she rest in peace.

It is with great sadness that I read about Dorothy's death. We had been best friends throughout Jr. High school and shared our Confirmation from Fairmount Temple. I recall the great fun we had planning and having our Confirmation Party in the backyard of Dorothy's beautiful home on North Park. I still have one of our invitations in an old scrapbook filled with dance cards from Florence Shapiro, dried-up and disintegrating corsages, many camp letters, and other such memorabilia. I will try to post pictures of the invitation under photos.

I appreciate your comments, Gail.  Although I was not good friends with Dorothy, I remember her as someone who was kind and friendly.   Like you, I also remember her famly's lovely home on North Park.  What a generous woman to provide funds for many worthwhile causes.  Sad to read that we have lost yet another of our clasmmates.
