Donna Irene MacEachron

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS -- Donna MacEachron, a longtime hairdresser and eyelash specialist in the Heights area, died Oct. 12 after a long illness. She was 67.

A joint funeral service for MacEachron and her close friend, Eleanor Young, was held Oct. 22 at Brown-Forward Funeral Home in Shaker Heights. Interment followed at Lake View Cemetery.

Young, also a hairdresser who died in 2009, shared a home with MacEachron in Cleveland Heights.

MacEachron worked many years at Andre Duval and other salons at Severance Town Center, then at Cedar Center and most recently at Shear Design in Cleveland Heights.

A graduate of Shaker Heights High School, MacEachron enjoyed crafts, music and traveling. She was an avid follower of the Cleveland pro sports teams, especially the Indians and Cavaliers.

MacEachron was an excellent cook who enjoyed hosting parties at her home. She was a member of the Jewish Community Center and the Red Hat Society.

MacEachron is survived by a sister, Linda A. (Andy) Kovacs, of Maine, N.Y. She loved her family, which included two nieces, a nephew, four great-nieces, a great-nephew and four cousins.

Contributions are suggested to a charity of choice.

I am so sorry that I did not contact you earlier.  I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed, and remember fondly, the times I came to your house and had your mother teach me and some other girls how to embroider.  I still have some of the pillow cases we embroidered during that time.  While we would be busy working, she would read books.  I still remember all the stitches she taught me.  I don't hand embroider any more; I have graduated to using a machine to do the embroidering.  I do not know if your mother is still alive, but I would have wanted her to know also how much I appreciated the time she spent with me.  Marlene Wolk Bell
