What have you been up to since you graduated?

I went to U. of Michigan, taught 8th grade history & English, married, got a masters, got MS, did community practice social work in Western Wayne County (near Detroit), had 3 boys in Ann Arbor, moved to East Lansing in 1986. I taught ESL and did community practice social work for 365 refugees/immigrants: one on one for years from Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Liberia, Sierra Leone and immigrants from China, Nepal, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, India, Cuba, Haiti, Mexico and Peru. Many became citizens, after 5 years, and friends.
School Story

I was only in Shaker Heights for 19 months: At our Lake Michigan cottage and to Ann Arbor. I would like to relocate a few friends. Joyce Wilkerson? Dale Pollack? Maribeth Craig?

Hi Dale!! Remember me, Melinda Hansen, in Mr. Swasha's (sp?) class and Mr. Pollack's (sp?) class? I remember you,as a funny, engaged person with the ideas! Are/were you a professor at one of universities in Salem, North Carolina? I like the picture of your wife; she reminds me of a friend of mine.
I moved to University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where I was born. I met my husband there. I taught history, English in junior high, got an MSW at Michigan. I worked as a social worker at a Detroit YWCA.. Had 3 sons, when the youngest was in 6th grade, I went back to work; teaching refugees English and doing sociai work for them for 16 years. I've had MS for 44 years so I worked out of my home from referrals from the Area Literacy Council.
I won't go to the 50th Reunion; too tiring for me. Bu/t I am very glad to touch base with you! .North carolina is much warmer than Michigan! Have a good life! Melinda (Hansen) Finger

Roger, I am trying to find Joyce Wilkerson. Thank you for the article about her. I moved from Michigan in my junior year ad Joyce was very kind to me. I want to thank her. I could write her at her work address. Do you know it? I'm not surprised that she has had a career of helping people. Melinda
