My first friend when I moved to Shaker Heights (in 10th grade), Jay was kind, smart and laid back: a one man welcoming committee. I got to thank him last year on one of these SHHS on-line formats but I should have said more. He was the light as I entered a cave and I'll always remember fondly.

Jay and I were good friends at Byron and we frequently ate lunch together there. I was really happy when he got back in touch by phone a year ago and it was great catching up. However, it seemed he was using an oxygen machine and I was worried about his health.

Jay was so happy go lucky, will always remember him in at Byron and Shaker with an smile, and for some reason a trumpet, the only other person I would remember w a trumpet would be Miles Davis. RIP Jay

Jay was a good friend and fellow trumpet playing band member at Byron. He was always positive and a genuinely friendly guy. We had recently reconnected on the phone, and although his health had deteriorated horribly he still exuded that same positivity.

Good guy. Liked him a lot. Spoke to him recently on Facebook. I will miss him.
