I knew Judy since first grade at Mercer. I was so happy when we reconnected at a previous reunion and then spoke with her over Skype in Spain where she was living. I was thrilled to hear she would come to my Mercer reunion in 2006 where she had a speaking part in Project Discovery, (a movie made about Mercer School in 1965) We kept in touch and then she told me she wanted to move back to Cleveland. The rest of her family had moved to Atlanta but she loved Cleveland. After moving back to Cleveland we got together socially but one event was very special when we decided to go canoeing at Camp Hi in October 2008 along with Penny Adelstein. To my surprise I did not know that was something that Judy was interested in. All of us had a great time!. Judy then surprised Penny and me with dinner at Blazin Bills in Troy Township. I will never forget her and how brave she fought until the end. RIP Judy.
Judy was my Byron Jr. High School girlfriend (yes, this was many lifetimes ago!) I was always attracted to her creativity, high energy, and confidence in pursuing her dreams. It took her all the way to an amazing life in Spain as an accomplished dancer. After she had moved back to Cleveland, and found she had a very aggressive cancer, all she could talk about was how happy and grateful she was to be back in Cleveland -- surrounded by so many loving friends. She found so much love because she gave so much love. We miss her.
Andy: Wow - those are great photos and reminded me of how great it was to reconnect with Judy at our last reunion. She was so full of life. Very sad she's not with us this weekend.
Judy played the flute in our band. I played drums. I recall having a conversation with her in 9th grade at Byron. I don't recall the subject matter of the conversation, however, I recall saying to her "most people do...". Her response to me was something to the effect of "Andre, if you do what most people do; you will live like most people. Is that what you want for your life?". I try to live by those words to this day.
