Charles Alan Buckmeier
Charles “Chuck” Buckmeier, of Austin, Minn., formerly of Shakopee, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
A memorial service was 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, at St. John’s United Church of Christ, Fairmont, Minn. Interment will be at a later date. Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont is handling the arrangements for the family.
Charles Alan Buckmeier was born in Hennepin County on Jan. 15, 1970 and was adopted by Martie and Cecil Buckmeier on Feb. 6, 1970. Following a short stay in Mankato, they moved to Fairmont where they resided until June of 1978. At that time they moved to Shakopee where Chuck graduated from Shakopee High School in 1988. He also attended Normandale Junior College in Edina. Chuck worked for McFarland Truck Lines in Austin for a number of years and most recently for Godfather’s Pizza in Albert Lea.
Chuck in survived by his parents, Martie and Cecil Buckmeier of Lake Mills, Iowa; brother, Andrew Buckmeier and his wife, Jody, and their son, Alexander, of New Richland, Minn.; two grandmothers, Lillian Buckmeier of Fairmont, Miriam Wehler of the Good Samaritan Home in Albert Lea; five aunts, Mary Voorhees of Fort. Worth, Texas, Charleen Zoeller and husband, Fred, of Fairmont, Mary DeSart and her husband, Don, of Albert Lea, Marguerite Burmeister of Fairmont, Sharon Shumski of Fairmont; two uncles, Floyd Buckmeier and wife, Mary Lou, of Fairmont, Eugene Bell of Blue Earth; other cousins and friends.
Chuck was very fortunate to meet his birth mother, Shawnee McKenna (Jerry) in 1994 and also found out that he had four half sisters, Suzanne, Kesa, Audra and Lindsay, all of whom survive him today. Shawnee and Jerry live in Randall, Minn. and Chuck has enjoyed many celebrations with his birth family.
He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Charles D. Buckmeier and Emil R. Wehler; three uncles, Robert Wehler, James Buckmeier and Earl Burmeister; and one aunt, Lois Bell.
We know that Chuck has found peace and freedom from the pain and challenges of his illnesses that he endured for many years and we ask for your prayers to help him attain the highest level of peace possible with God. He has left a big void in our world and will be sorely missed by all who love him.
