DEREK ANTHONY WARD, 34, of Shell Knob, Mo., died Sunday, April 1, 2007, at his home.
He was born Oct. 13, 1972, in Overland Park, Kan. He graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School and received a bachelor of science in biology from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kan.
He worked for Denesco Co. in Gardner, Kans. and Degraffenreid Pickle Co. in Springfield, Mo. as a food analyst. Derek had visited Shell Knob his whole life and always wanted to live on Table Rock Lake. He moved there two years ago and worked for the Shell Knob Lawn Service. He shared his gifts of guitar playing, fishing and hunting with family and friends.
He is survived by his parents, Oren and Lynn Ward of Shell Knob; and his sister, Wendi Hines and her husband, Mark of Parkville, Mo. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cecil and Mabel Ward of Shell Knob.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 4, 2007, in Central Community United Methodist Church under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Shell Knob. Rev. Dean Wilson conducted the services.
