Charissa Ann Sears McGuire

October 10, 1954 ~ March 14, 2021 

 

 

Charissa Ann McGuire (Sears), 66, peacefully passed on March 14, 2021 at the Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by loved ones.

Charissa was born on October 10, 1954, she was the second oldest of six children. She graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School in 1972 and married Rocky McGuire on February 15, 1974. She was an outgoing woman with a contagious laugh. Charissa had an incredible work ethic and it showed through her 20 year career as a server at Red Lobster. After leaving Red Lobster, she went to work for Alliance Data and ended up retiring from there a few years ago to spend more time with her family.

Growing up in Shawnee, Charissa enjoyed being a part of 4H, she played softball for JCGAA, and was a member of the Tomahawk Swim and Dive team. Charissa was very charitable and always helped others whenever possible. She enjoyed shopping, she really loved picking the perfect gift and exquisitely wrapping, gift giving for her was an event. She also enjoyed cooking, dining out, decorating anything and everything, and hanging out poolside with friends and family in the summer.

Charissa is survived by her daughter, Roxanne Jones of Overland Park; son, Christopher McGuire of Overland Park; Seven grandchildren, Zachary, Alexis, Gavin, Steven, Nicholas, Jarrell, and Kendrick and two great grandchildren; four siblings Malinda Porter (Rocky), James Sears (Glenda), Vincent Sears, Jennifer Drake (Ed), sister-in-law Janet Sears, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Rocky D. McGuire; her parents, Thomas G. Sears and Frances L. Sears; her brother, Thomas W. Sears; and her grandson, Marco A. Cohen.
