Sheri Strang

I am back!!! Thanks for the phone calls and messages. I will post some photos from the trip once I figure out the camera. :o)
Well the GOOD was PHENOMENAL and the BAD was REALLY bad. We did have fantastic weather and YES, I REALLY DID MAKE A TOAST TO MY FELLOW CLASSMATES ON OUR PRIVATE BALCONY as promised! :o) The private balcony was 14 feet long and 8 feet deep. WOW!!! The room was amazing and we had a full ship of 4,200 people. It was a city on water!
As you know I traveled in the wheelchair and I am so pleased to say the ship was very accessible EVERYWHERE!!!
The temp range started at 76 and went to 96 with a nice breeze. Miami, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten and Labadee, Haiti. (Never saw an island.) Watched 11 movies too. :o( A very nice break from the cold though.
We were upgraded to 1st class both ways with American Airlines and had priority ship boarding. :o) We saw some of the most phenomenal shows I have ever seen,( better than Vegas!)we were switched to celebrity seating on the ship after a bad incident and we were on a game show on the ship. 80's night was amazing and I chair danced with a Miami Vice guy. HA HA We made lots of friends and met some great people. Anybody remember the group Sha Na Na or Rocky and the Rollers? Too funny... I do not want to bore the group and babble so I will leave it at that. :o)
Hugs and LOVE~ Sheri

Hey Di Ponio...we were in Miami early and then 8 days! :o)
Thanks for thinking of me... sorry about Frankie's nose. :o) Holly Oke-Todd, Yes, it is freezing here. I want to go back!

Tex, Why do you have it out there in the cold. Don't you know you are supposed to keep it covered up. In those temps, it may freeze and fall off! You better tuck it and protect it buddy!

Here's a thought to warm you up... All the ladies waiting to slap and bite you on the 24th!!! Man you better put that thing away before you hurt yourself!!!!

Wind? Our kids are out there in -15 and fucked up atmospheric conditions before they say, "UH-0H, the buses won't start." I've got a extended cab from a big rig out in the front of the property by the road for the 3 kids on the street to sit in (with windows) to watch for the bus when it is un-fucken real to stand out there in normal shit... I walked out there and checked it out...Those kids got coffee cups, plates with some left over chow on it, you name it... When the bus comes, those motherfuckers are waiting with their faces lookin through the windows for sure... I'm glad Ben and I got that damn thing.... Some dude offered me $200 buck for it, I told him to GO FHS. Ba-da-da, da-da, da, DA!

Okay, I finally figured out my camera and the pics are up at my profile... :o) Tim Wines, Sister Krista Golden,Holly,Meg McDonald and many others... you can get off my back now. lol :o) Oh, I had several inquiries into what was bad on the trip. We were quarantined from the Norwalk Virus for 3 days. That was miserable for Alan. That is why we watched so many movies. Luckily, I did not get sick. :o) Some people wanted to know how I got the celebrity table as well. At first we were in another room seated with a group of Russians and let's just say they were less than kind. I was in tears and I have developed a tough skin since the accident. The Head Waiter felt so bad about what happened that we were moved to the best table there...excluding the captain's table of course.
Lastly, coming home I did have a pressure problem flying and my eye and face started pulsating and I had gunk and blood clots come out of my eye. I did not even think of the after effects of my procedure with pressure. So I am going to see the specialist ASAP. The great news was when flying down I had a big pop in my head and then afterwards I could see the outline of corners and shapes and not just color blobs. YEAH!!!!! Doctors once told me I would not see again...I told them I would and I am seeing more out
of that eye each day. :o)

01/16/09 01:15 AM #1038

Jacqueline Zook (Kobe)

Sheri...congrats on the vision status!!! I personally hate Dr's..they don't ALWAYS have the answers and assume the outcome of something because they really don't have the answer at all!!!! So, good luck with that and prove them wrong! Glad you had a great time and had a safe trip!

01/16/09 01:27 AM #1039

Sheri Strang

Thanks Zook!!!! You are right the Dr.'s do not know everything. The human body is still a huge wonder in many areas and sometimes there is just not a plan. It has been almost 5 years and I have found that time has helped me a great deal in healing as well as my procedures. I got rid of any Dr. that said, " You will never do this or that again."
I will get all of the sight back and I will dance at the reunion. I chair danced on the cruise and that was a start!
:o) I have a motto..."If you are not enjoying life and having fun it is your OWN DAMN fault!" Even the rough times can be full of the best moments and memories! :o)

Off topic- I see under Classmate Profiles there is a place for you to register as Military. Only one person has registered. Ahem, Wines, Tex, Miller, Ploss, Degrove, Gagna, Vacca and many more I am sure...

Adam and everyone,

What a cool idea. If you all have not seen it yet go to Adam's profile and check out the ice rink he made. Great job and I know you are going to have a wonderful time playing outside on your PERSONAL RINK!!! :o)

P.S. More pics added but in the interest of space for other people I will be deleting photos in a few weeks. I do not have a my space or facebook so there are some selected photos of a sampling at my profile. :o)

We made an ice rink in our backyard last year--it was a blast but a lot of work to maintain...the hardest part was getting the boys dressed--I managed to talk my husband into forgoing it until they are older and can tie their own skates...to much of a hassle!! Not to mention, my water bill is high enough in the summertime--I like the break in the winter!! (It wasn't as bad as I thought is was going to be, but hearing the water run for over 24 hours had me alittle on stressed!!)...

It was quite a bit of work getting it setup and the guys on my hockey team game me some hell for the rookie mistakes I made but the past few weeks have been tons of fun. We try to get out at least once a day and sometime two or three. I have gotten really good at finding pucks in the neighbors yard/snow and realized that the Costco Steel Hockey goal was not meant to take slap shots.

Doby, it was great seeing you at the black tie tonight. Couldn't beleive you were there.

01/16/09 11:19 PM #1045

Katherine DiPonio

Doby went to a black tie? You're kidding right???

Deb - if there's not a May get together, THERE WILL BE ONE IF YOU'RE GOING TO JORDAN! xoxox

Yay! Sheri is back! You could have brought some heat with you though! :)

Frankie seems better. Hopefully he won't spend tonight throwing up. I changed his bed twice, mine once, scrubbed the bathroom floor, toilet and washed the rugs AND 3 changes of jammies for each of us. No other symptoms so I'm hoping it was a 24 hour some kinda thing! Mama needs some sleep!

01/16/09 11:43 PM #1046

Debra Miller

Kathy - good to hear hes feeling better. Sounds like you both definately need some sleep.

All this talk about get togethers, being sick... I'm glad I've done neither. Service calls are my life when it gets this cold. I was at an emerg. service call yesterday and the lady was a Psychologist, WOW... She was definately in tune with the flow of my electrons. HEY, Sheri... CHUNKY and BLOOD CLOTS, out of your eye? That's fuckin' weird! Good thing you fly first class, this way if you start really freakin out they can just open up the hatch and scoot your ass out. Good to hear you're back!

01/17/09 09:01 AM #1048

Aaron Polchowski (Tex)

OH, and as for those mean ass Commie Russian Bastards... They can go fuck themselves. To make yourself feel better, picture bending them over at their table and taking a ................. you fill in this part. :)

01/17/09 10:15 AM #1049

Sheri Strang

Tex,
We were upgraded I bought coach. :o) I am cheap. :o) Yes, it was a bit frightening but you have to remember my eye was closed for 4 1/2 years. Maybe this gunk and old clots needed to come out. :o)
My flight attendant was great and remained calm but he did say this was NOT in the training manual. :o) ha ha
I probably should not have put down the nationality of the people making fun of me. It wouldn't matter what nationality...except I know more Spanish and French. ;o)
I had a few inquiries on how I knew they were making fun of me. Well, one incident they were all pretending to adjust their jaw and would have food fly out of their mouths and the other a man was dragging his leg and pretending to move it and clunk it on the table. They would laugh and then somebody would pretend to race in a wheelchair in their dining room chair. To think they were Scientists acting this way. It took everything Alan had not to ask them to step outside. Hmmm...out on the ocean too!!! HA HA
I am HAPPY to say everyone else on the ship was WONDERFUL! :o) That was in the beginning of the cruise and besides quarantine, for us it was smooth sailing! Tex, did you look at the photo I took especially for you!!!! :o)
KATHY- I tried to smuggle in the HEAT but customs caught me and took the 85 degrees away. :o) I am glad Frankie is doing better. Take a nap Mama! :o) MWAH!!!
DEB- Do not blow away and keep us posted!!! :o)
BLACK TIE? I bet that was for the Auto Show. I sat next to a woman who was flying in for GM on the plane and the whole time she was worried about her dress getting lost. They lost our luggage coming back too. We did get it 3 days later though. :o)
PICTURES~ I posted my pics, now I want to see some Holiday pictures and I know some of you also went skiing and to other places as well. :o)
TIM WINES~ Where are you?

01/17/09 02:31 PM #1050

Katherine DiPonio

Sheri - Timmy is up at Tip Up Town - with Jimmy none the less! Yeah, scarey thought!! :) May not be hearing from them for some time!! Ha! I exchanged a few text messages with Timmy last night, he got there safe and appears to be having fun! I told him not to get alcohol poisoning and to use condoms! lmao!

SNOW SNOW GO AWAY - COME AGAIN ANOTHER DAY!!! I'm sick sick sick of it already! Frankie is with his dad and I'm gonna be snowed in - can't even get out and paint the town red! GGRR!!
