Pauline was a great friend and teammate. I didn't always like playing basketball. The away games especially drove me nuts. She always made me laugh. Here's my favorite memory - We were playing an away game against Fraser. They had some big corn fed kinda girls on that team. I went to Pauline's house the day before the game and whined to her that I didn't want to play the amazon girls. They were bigger and I always got fouled out of the game when we played them. Or we ended up with a technical because they'd piss me off and I'd run my mouth. We came up with a plan to be faster (so they couldn't catch us). We went to the store and bought a 6 pack of Jolt. Then we each drank 3 right before the game. We ran around like idiots - especially me! I'd rebound the ball and put it back up in the opponents net - TWICE! Pauline and I couldn't stop laughing. We were laughing so hard that Coach McInerny (sp?) benched us both. After the game he was so mad because he thought we were on drugs. When we told him our story he didn't believe us. We had to take him out to her car and show him the empty cans of Jolt! If it weren't for Pauline, I wouldn't have played as long as I did which wasn't even the whole season sophmore year. Pauline was a dear friend and seeing her picture has made me realize that I miss her and Jackie more than I thought. I still go to their grave site about once a year.
What a tragic loss of two beautiful and intelligent girls. They both had many friends and touched many lives. That certainly was evident at the service and the funeral. I remember cars as far as the eye could see. What more could you want in life than to touch peoples lives and have them remember you with such honor and integrity. Once someone is in your heart they are always in your heart.
At the start of our junior year I was new to Ike and played tennis so I was able to meet Pauline even before the school year began. She was always a lot of fun and became a good friend right away. She and I also played volleyball together. Some of my favorite memories were in Mr. Marchuk's chemistry class. She was a great athlete, intelligent and friendly to just about everyone. I think about both of the sisters often and know that I was blessed to know them, even if for a little while. I am always reminded that life is short and we must appreciate every day on this Earth.
Pauline and Jackie were two wonderful people. I think of them often and how their lives were taken from us so unexpectedly. Pauline was a dear friend and a wonderful teammate. Their deaths rocked my world as a teenager. I know they rest in peace now. I think of their remaining family members and hope and pray that they too have peace.
I don't remember Pauline really, but I was friends with her sister Jacqueline. Honestly, the day before the accident, her and I were in a class together and we discussed riding to school the next day. I slept in that next day. I felt horrible for a long time! I remember going to the funeral, and they were both loved by many many people. God bless them!
