Dennis Colvin - Class Of 1965

Dennis Colvin 65 died Monday Jan 23, 2012 at Mason General Hospital surrounded by family.  He was a lifelong resident of Shelton.

He was born October 22, 1946 in Salem, Oregon to Ralph and Virginia Colvin.

He graduated from Shelton High School and Married Judy.  They were married 46 years.

He worked for the City of Shelton for more than 30 years in various positions including city building inspector, public works manager and most recently in the city finance department after retiring in 1999.  He also worked in accounting at the Hiawatha Corporation.  He was a volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Shelton Fire Department for several years. 

He was active in recreational sports including slow pitch and fast pitch softball.  He coached several Little League baseball teams.  He was a member of the Shelton Kiwanis and Jaycees.  He was a Cub Scout youth leader for several years.  His family said he was known for his sense of humor and ability to make friends with everyone he met.  They said he would help anyone and didn’t know how to say the word no.

He is survived by his mother Virginia Speas of Shelton; brother Jim Speas of Shelton; wife Judy Colvin of Shelton; and sons Wade Colvin of Spokane and Warren Colvin of Prescott Arizona;  Daughter Wendy Nall (Brendan) of Shelton; grandchildren Brooke, Courtney, Bryce and Quintin and his favorite pet Chico.
