b. 1 Feb 1944 d. 20 Oct 2005 in Ellensburg, WA OBITUARY: Mason County Journal MARTHA ANNE HESSER TYYNISMAA After a long a valiant struggle with chronic pulmonary disease, martha went in peace to be with God on Sunday, October 2, 2005. She passed away at Kittitas Valley Community Hospital, Ellensburg, WA at the age of 61. Her husband of 36 years was at her side, as he had been most of her life. Martha was born February 1, 1944 to Charlotte and Tom Hesser in Eureka, CA. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Les, her sister Mary and her husband, Al Johnson of Shelton, Les's sister Clare Hensen of Ellensburg and his brother Walt Tyynismaa and his wife Paula of Olympia. To the many loving nieces and nephews of "Auntie Marph" or "Aunt Marphie", she was the "cool" one, always happy, always smiling and always there for them. She will be a bright memory for Shannon and her husband, Greg Twiddy of Shelton and their sons, Kyle and Colton; Stefanie and her husband Mark McDougall of Hoodsport and their daughter, Riley Erin; Tracy and her husband Brian Coolbaugh of Poulsbo, Cory Bigler of Everett, Toni Dow and her husband Steve of Bothell, Teri Matison and her husband Paul of Puyallup, and Ed Tyymismaa and his wife Terri of Walla Walla, as well a numerous grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and stepfather, Ralph Hilligoss. Martha cherished her special friendship with Fran and Earl Houck of Ellensburg, Mike and Debbie Kirk of Port Angeles, Todd and Shannon Stevens of Desert Aire, Rowland and Rose Cuzick of Shelton, Candy and Stan Johston of Quilcene, Pat and Larry DuToit of Oregon and Tony and Shirley Kreifels of Washington. Martha lived a full life, spiced with travel and adventure, always finding and meeting new challenges such as racing cars, helicopter skiing, paragliding, scuba diving, riding horses and sailing. After working at Rayonier's research lab for some 4 years right out of school, in 1968 she took a tramp steamer to Europe wher she toured for six months before ging to work again for Rayonier in London, staying long enough to earn her passage home, where she married her high school sweetheart, Les, in Forks on July 3, 1969. Everywhere Martha worked during her married life with Les, she made good friends, whether at Centralia Community College, the school superintendent's office in Poulsbo, the United Methodist Church in Shelton, or her many partime and volunteer projects. Martha will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends and by the community to which she gave sunshine every day. Arrangements by Affordable Funeral Care, Ellensburg, WA.
