Gary L. Combs

b. 29 Jan 1945 d. 13 Sep 2004 OBITUARY: Gary Lynn Combs Jan. 29, 1945 - Sept. 13, 2004 Gary Lynn Combs, 59, of Seabeck died Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup. He was born in Oxnard, Calif., to Clifford and Madonna (Michler) Combs, and lived there until age 7, when his family moved to Shelton. After graduating from Shelton High School n 1963, he attended the University of Washington, graduating in 1976 with a bachelor's degree. On July 7, 1973, he married Bonnie Farsdahl in Tacoma. Mr. Combs served in the Viet Nam War as an electrician's mate 2nd class in the U.S. Navy and was awarded the National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Before he retired in 1996, he worked as an engineer at Keyport for 20 years. He was an avid Huskies football fan and enjoyed fishing and computers. An accordian player and teacher, he loved music. he also enjoyed woodworking and carpentry, having built his own house. He was a member of the Northwest Accordian Society and the Disabled American Veterans. His father preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife; his mother and stepfather, Madonna and Lee Reynolds; two sons, Joel Combs and his wife, Stephanie, of Duvall, and Christian Combs of Okalahoma; a daughter, Cherese Gardner, of Idaho; and two brothers, Dennis Combs and his wife, Charlene, of Shelton, and Keith Combs and his wife, Therese, of Olypia. A celebration of his life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Chapel in Bremerton. Private inurnment will be at the Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove Memorial Park in Poulsbo.
