Hey Kenny. Yeah, doing well out here in Washington. I've been here 17yrs. It's hard to believe it's been that long. I noticed you have a couple boys. How old are they? I have 3 boys. 12, 8 and 5. They are sure a lot of fun. I like the fact they all still think girl commercials should be illegal! LOL Me... I'm just a stay at home mama. We homeschool and that keeps me pretty busy.

My favorite is when they run from the room screaming YUCK GIRLS STUFF!!! My 8 yr old falls to the ground and acts like he's dead. It's pretty entertaining!

We had a good time that year at prom. If my scanner was working I'd have posted the photo already! lol

David that's why there is SPIKE tv... the Man's channel. ha!

I love the Fletch movies and Caddyshack too. I also really like Steve Martin. I'm pretty sure there isn't a movie he's made that I don't like. There might be but I can't think of it right now.

I LOVE Christmas Vacation, so it's not just a guy thing. Although, I can't stand Ben Stiller or Something About Mary.

Scene in Christmas Vacation where they are sledding and Clark is putting the extra slick spray on the sleds-

Cousin Eddie-"Now don't go putting that on mine, Clark. Remember that steel plate I had in my head? Well, I had to have it removed because every time Katherine fired up the microwave, I'd piss my pants and forget who I was for about 30 minutes or so."

Now don't tell me THAT'S not funny, Vic.

How bout when the old Aunt wraps her cat up as a present and Clark shakes it up to see what it is? Priceless!

Favorite line from Airplane?

"Surely, you can't be serious."
"I am serious. And don't call me Shirley."

(Sorry to those of you who can't view it at work...watch it when you get home. HILARIOUS!)

some of you who have teenagers, what do they do these days? do they still cruise the sonic, hang out at the court house, go to geyer springs??????

11/13/08 01:15 PM #87

Stacy Cunningham (Gilbert) (1989)

I can tell you that I was recently (in July) passing through Sheridan leaving Cymber Tadlock Gieringers wedding at 8:00 on a Saturday night and it was NOT HAPPENING. It was quite depressing. Nor were they at the Court House!

11/13/08 01:16 PM #88

Crystal Clark (Cole) (1989)

I don't have a teenager, but I can tell you the teenagers aren't hanging out at the Sonic or Center Lanes anymore! And Geyer Springs is like a ghost town too, I'm told. I don't know what they do for fun these days!

Justin James (1986)

and to think we had so much fun doing those things guess that was before Sheridan became big time? i know it has grown alot since i left in the few times ive been home it grows more and more!

11/13/08 04:19 PM #90

Steve Warmack (1987)

Well... Geyer Springs has grown dangerous hasnt it? Wouldn't you need an AR-15 and a box of grenades to go crusing there these days?

11/13/08 04:34 PM #91

Justin James (1986)

Steve, I have not been on the springs since 86 so i really wouldnt know but if that is true then i wont be going to that part of town the next time i visit! Hope you all have a great weekend! my workweek is done baby! woohooooooo! 3 days with the kids at the old hunting camp, it dosnt get any better than that!

Vicki Ausbrooks (Shaw) (1988)

Vicki is hungry.

Oh...

This isn't Facebook, is it? My bad.

Steve, the 89er's were prolly the last to cruise there regularly. One of their own was killed there.

I haven't been around Sheridan in a very long time (other than in-and-out for a funeral). Sad to hear that Sonic is no longer a hang-out.

David, I agree with you about the Wal-Mart scene in CV. I love subtle humor like that. Napoleon Dynamite was full of stuff like that. Stuff that's not laugh out loud funny, but silly things like Pedro pulling up to his house on his bike, putting the kickstand down and then laying the bike over on it's side. Stuff like that cracks me up.

As far as what kids do these days, I couldn't tell you. I can tell you that gas prices probably put a curb on cruising if it hadn't stopped already. You guys realize how lucky we were to pay less than a buck for gas when we were in school? I can't imagine just driving around aimlessly for hours on end at $3 plus/gallon.

I know that Geyer Springs has been a virtual ghost town at night since the Johnny Nooner incident in 1990. Not that anyone in their right mind would want to hang out there now anyway.

11/13/08 07:11 PM #94

Jimmy Choate (1987)

I don't know for sure where the kids hang out now. I think they mostly just hang out at friends houses. With the massive influx of video games, text messaging, and websites like Myspace and Facebook they no longer need a place to socialize. It's really kind of sad when you think about it.

Christmas Vacation is one of my all time favorites. The look on Chevy Chase's face when his wife pulls the folding stairway down cracks me up just thinking about it.

As far as cruising Geyer....I think that would be real similar to spending an evening in downtown Detroit. No one in their right mind would go there to socialize. They actually had to turn the old Southwest Mall into a police station.

Yep... Southwest Mall is actually the State Police Headquarters. When I started at the Crime Lab... we were the third floor of the State Police Headquarters... now we are the whole bulding and they are on Geyer Springs.

And I remember playing putt putt and going to the UA 4 down there as a kid... before it turned in to a war zone.

Another thing a wonder about this younger generation is this.

Will they ever TRULY be able to have these conversations that we have here and on the other pages? Will they have any unversal shared experiences?

Think about it... we had four channels on our TV... we ALL know the Muppet Show. We ALL know Buck Rogers... even if we never watched it... we KNOW about it.

These kids today have 150 channels... most of their music is found online and downloaded to their ipods, etc... it is possible for two kids to grow up next door to each other and have very few common memories... the culture of so much choice is wonderful in some ways.. but...

In 25 years... I wonder if they will have as many universal touchpoints as we do.

maybe that doesnt really matter.. but I wonder what the potential downsides to all this choice are.
