Yep, warm and toasty under, not so much out from under.

Cool old stuff from the 70's.  Seems that Star Wars dominated the market pretty good back then.

Remember these?  The front part came off and became like an escape pod or something.

He was always good for fighting with the Shoguns.  About the same size.  He got many shooting fists to the face.

I remember those Shogun Warriors. They were huge like a couple of feet long right? I remember seeing them in the 5 and Dime in Sheridan. They had a great toy section for such a small store. Of course my memory might actually be of a better place than the reality of the place. Many many moons ago. They had the best selection of the little green army men and their accessories. Great subject today for our avatars. Should bring back some good memories. I've chosen The Micronauts. Maybe you remember the old school ones. I think they changed them radically over the next few years. They came out at that age when I was transitioning from toys like these to more teenage stuff. The years between 10 and 13 are awkward.

Yeah, I loved the old 13" or so tall action figures.  Super heroes and Gi Joes.  I never actually had a Shogun, but a couple of my friends did.  Had lots of fun with em.  I had a stretch monster that I had a lot of fun with and never punctured him on anything.  His skin just eventually wore out and dry cracked.

I wish they still made the stretch toys.  Good exercise for the kiddos.

I had one of those Shogun warriors when I lived in Okinawa (1st - 3rd grade) but I am not sure what happened to it when we moved back to Arkansas in the middle of 3rd grade.  They really didnt come out here for years after that and they were rather tame compared to the ones you got overseas.  The stupid safety rules here make toys so lame compared to the death traps you got overseas.  LOL

Not playing the avatar thing today - I'm in an elephant mood because of FARMVILLE - LOL - So I decided to go with one of my circus pics (I guest performed at Circus Pages when they came to Pine Bluff)

Still waiting on my work schedule - Im about to give up on them.

Yee haw!

Saw this on FB thought it was kinda funny:
Southern Astrological Signs

Some people (especially Southerners) are pretty skeptical of horoscopes, and it has become obvious that what they need are their own “Southern” astrological signs.

OKRA (Dec 22 – Jan 20)
Although you appear crude, you are actually very slick on the inside. Okras have tremendous influence. An older Okra can look back over his life and see the seeds of his influence everywhere. Stay away from Moon Pies.

CHITLIN (Jan 21 – Feb 19)
Chitlins come from humble backgrounds. A chitlin, however, can make something of himself if he’s motivated and has lots of seasoning. In dealing with Chitlins, be careful. They can erupt like Vesuvius. Chitlins are best with Catfish and Okra.

BOLL WEEVIL (Feb 20 – Mar 20)
You have an overwhelming curiosity. You’re unsatisfied with the surface of things, and you feel the need to bore deep into the interior of everything. Needless to say, you are very intense and driven as if you had some inner hunger. Nobody in their right mind is going to marry you, so don’t worry about it.

MOON PIE (Mar 21 – Apr 20)
You’re the type that spends a lot of time on the front porch. It’s a cinch to recognize the physical appearance of Moon Pies. Big and round are the key words here. You should marry anybody who you can get remotely interested in the idea. It’s not going to be easy. This might be the year to think about aerobics. Or – maybe not.

POSSUM (Apr 21 – May 21)
When confronted with life’s difficulties, possums have a marked tendency to withdraw and develop a don’t-bother-me-about-it attitude. Sometimes you become so withdrawn, people actually think you’re dead. This strategy is probably not psychologically healthy, but seems to work for you. One day, however, it won’t work and you may find your problems actually running you over.

CRAWFISH (May 22 – June 21)
Crawfish is a water sign. If you work in an office, you’re always hanging around the water cooler. Crawfish prefer the beach to the mountains, the pool to the golf course, the bathtub to the living room. You tend to be not particularly attractive physically, but you have very, very good heads.

COLLARDS (June 22 – July 23)
Collards have a genius for communication. They love to get in the “melting pot” of life and share their essence with the essence of those round them. Collards make good social workers, psychologists, and baseball managers. As far as your personal life goes, if you are Collards, stay away from Moon Pies. It just won’t work. Save yourself a lot of heartache.

CATFISH (July 24 – Aug 23)
Catfish are traditionalists in matters of the heart, although one’s whiskers may cause problems for loved ones. You catfish are never easy people to understand. You prefer the muddy bottoms to the clear surface of life. Above all else, Catfish should stay away from Moon Pies.

GRITS (Aug 24 – Sept 23)
Your highest aim is to be with others like yourself. You like to huddle together with a big crowd of other Grits. You love to travel though, so maybe you should think about joining a club. Where do you like to go? Anywhere they have cheese or gravy or bacon or butter or eggs. If you can go somewhere where they have all these things, that serves you well.

BOILED PEANUTS (Sept 24 – Oct 23)
You have a passionate desire to help your fellow man. Unfortunately, those who know you best – your friends and loved ones – may find that your personality is much too salty, and their criticism will probably affect you deeply because you are really much softer than you appear. You should go right ahead and marry anybody you want to because in a certain way, yours is a charmed life. On the road of life, you can be sure that people will always pull over and stop for you.

BUTTER BEAN (Oct 24 – Nov 22)
Always invite a Butter Bean because Butter Beans get along well with everybody. You, as a Butter Bean, should be proud. You’ve grown on the vine of life and you feel at home no matter what the setting. You can sit next to anybody. However, you, too, shouldn’t have anything to do with Moon Pies.

ARMADILLO (Nov 23 – Dec 21)
You have a tendency to develop a tough exterior, but you are actually quite gentle. A good evening for you? Old friends, a fire, some roots, fruit, worms and insects. You are a throwback. You’re not concerned with today’s fashions and trends. You’re not concerned with anything about today. You’re really almost prehistoric in your interests and behavior patterns. You probably want to marry another Armadillo, but Possum is another somewhat kinky, mating possibility.

I always had Nylint trucks. Kind of a poor kid's Tonka.

I always wanted a rock polisher. Probably wouldn't have used it more than a few time. I had the cheap version of the Viewmaster too.

We had a slew of Tonka's.  We used to ride the dumptruck down the driveway. (That or the radio flyer wagon)  Things haven't changed either, cause my kids ride their new Tonka dumptrucks down the hill in the front yard. LOL

We also had a lot of Fisher Price trucks.  They were tough as nails too.  I had an ambulance that the sides opened up like a tackle box so ou could "work" in the back.

Sadly, as we got older, we played "crash up derby" with most of them and destroyed them by rolling them at each other as hard as we could.  The toughest toys survived, but usually without windshields.  I wish I had saved some of them for my kids.  At least they got several Tonkas.

No interviews yet and still waiting for my schedule at the club (gonna be a bouncer again)

I did sell my truck yesterday though - been trying to sell it for a few weeks - so now I have gas money for a little while so I can keep going

AND - hopefully it will last until Unemployment kicks in - IF I am allowed to have it this time.  I have to wait on a decision because I got fired.  Whatta crock.

I'm gonna call and talk to a few more people today and hit the pavement with more resumes tomorrow.

I got some bad memories of Tonka trucks.  I lost my first tooth when another kid threw a giant Tonka Dump truck at me.  I can still remember that big yellow monster flying toward my face.  It hurt like hades!  The tooth pooped right out too.  Bam! Smack! Spit tooth!  Waaaaaaa! (Hey I was a kid)  Those were some tough trucks though.

While we are talking retro - has anyone seen the ATARI game things they have at Radio Shack?  It's like the joystick controller from the old ATARI game and has all kinds of old school video games in it (Yars Revenge, Combat, Berserk, etc)  I am SO gonna get one!

Yee haw!

Hey Jody!

When we lived on 35hwy and had our little store "Smurl's Quick Stop" (clever huh).  Todd and I would have moon pies and chocolate milk waiting on the bus in the mornings.  MMmmmm

I have our Atari, too. Good times!

If you go to Arby's, you have to get the 5 for 5.95 or they just take your wallet at the window.  Heck, you can't get a kids meal and drink at most places for less than $5.  That's ludicrous!

Several years ago we had an 80's party. We had Shasta and RC cola, Atari and lots of neon colors! haa The door prizes were Aqua net, banana clips, and MJ retro jacket!! It was loads of fun. We had about 50 people show up. Everything from early Madonna to Preppies.
