Randy and I both stayed in Sheridan so I would see and visit with him frequently before his death. My dad took Randy and I on a 7 day backpacking trip into the wilderness area around Blacktooth Mountain in the summer of 1979. Randy had diabetes at that time but kept up great. We fished and explored and had a great time. I had some neat pictures of the trip I gave his wife after his funeral, she really enjoyed them. He really liked fast cars and was the only senior I remember in high school with a new Z-28 Camaro. He was lots of fun to be around.
I knew Randy all my life, his and my parents where friends before we where born, we lived in the same neighborhood until my family moved to Gladstone in 3rd or 4th grade. We were more like brothers than friends, we would have our falling outs and but always worked them out. I stood up with him when he and Kim got married. I helped him in the shop when he tried to make a go of it on his own. I helped him move his tool boxes from shop to shop when he changed jobs. As we got older and had families and I move to Billings we saw less and less of each other, but when we did get together, the time melted away and it was like it used to be when we hung out daily. I miss ya bud.
