I don't know if there's a way to convey this message to any family of Roy's that is still living who would have access to this site.

Last weekend I found myself up in Show Low eating at the Great American Pie shop next to Roy's boyhood home, and chatting with the owner and former neighbors of Roy's, Diana and Frank Lara. We talked about what a good soul Roy was, how much we missed him, and how tragic his passing was. He was one to sit there and visit and talk whenever you needed a friend. He was not judgemental, or worried too much about how he came across to others. Diane Lara said how much she missed him, how even has a teenager he had mastered the art of visiting with older adults and being at ease with them. He liked to talk, and he had a wonderful smile. I wanted to go over and tell his mom what a good friend he was to me in high school, but Diane said both of his parents had already passed, and all his siblings had moved out of town or out of state. I hope he knew, or knows now, that he is missed and was a treasured friend to many.
