Funeral services for Charla Eggum, 16, of Alexander, N.D., formerly of Sidney, were Saturday, July 17, 1999, at the Alexander School Gym in Alexander. Pastor Dan Paulson officiated with congregational hymns accompanied by Ellen Croy. Casketbearers were Kole James, Asa Simms, Chris Bigness, Eric Skedsbold, Cody Rockman, Brandon Monson, Mike Dybas, Aaron Olson, Heidi Monson, Staci Mrachek,Reggie Helling,Nicki Helling and Greta Pesek. Honorary casketbearers were the Class of 2001 and all her many friends. Ushers were Jesse Monson, Brody Monson, Andy Evanson, Avery Aamoth and Cassandra Gentry. Christian wake services were held Friday, July 16, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Sidney. Burial was at the Alexander Cemetery, under the direction of Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney. Charla died Wednesday, July 14, at the Unimed Medical Center in Minot, N.D.
Charla Annette Eggum was born Feb. 17, 1983, in Sidney to Linda (Doyle) and Dennis Eggum. She grew up and started school in Sidney. In the fall of 1995, she moved to Alexander to live with her mother and stepfather, Wade Aasen. Charla was very active in school, where she had served as class president, student council representative and a member of the National Honor Society. She was involved in Academic Olympics, drama and music was able to maintain a 4.0 grade point average. She played volleyball and girls basketball.
Charla was active in her community and enjoyed the Alexander youth group and the Luther League. She enjoyed visiting with her friends and family. She summer fallowed for her stepfather and learned to ride horses. She especially enjoyed spending time with and taking care of her 'little sister,' KayCee.
Survivors include her father, Dennis Eggum of Sidney; her mother and stepfather, Linda and Wade Aasen of Alexander; maternal grandmother, Annette Bower of Sidney; grandparents, Ethel and Charles Aasen of Alexander; four brothers, Michael, Brian and Matthew Eggum, all of Sidney and Brandon Eggum of Minneapolis; one sister, Mylinda (Blaine) Pritzkau of Coupeville, Wash.; two nephews, Rory and Rand Pritzkau; stepsister, Carrie Aasen of Killdeer, N.D.; and stepbrother, Will Aasen of Alexander; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/118520389/charla-a-eggum/photo
