
George Scott Carroll Obituary
Scott Carroll, 67, of Montague, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 30, 2024, after a long-awaited kidney transplant. Born on November 3, 1956, in Ironton, Ohio, Scott grew up in Sidney, Ohio, before moving to Montague at the age of 17. He graduated from Montague High School in 1975, where he forged lifelong friendships.
Scott's adventurous spirit was ignited during his high school years when he participated in an exchange program in Germany, sparking a lifelong love for travel. He continued his education at Michigan State University, proudly supporting both the Spartans and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
A collector of pinball machines and an avid reader, Scott had a deep passion for Civil War and World War history. He was known for his engaging storytelling, often sharing tales of his travels and life experiences. His unique interests also included a love for fireworks, which he enjoyed sharing with friends and family.
Scott is survived by: his longtime partner of nearly 20 years, JoAnn Hulce; his “adopted” daughter, Amy (Jason) Loch; and bonus grandchildren, Teagan (23) and Graham (17). He also leaves behind his brothers, Rick (Devon), Bruce, and Chris (Lezlie); nieces and nephews, Julie, Jason, Josh, Christopher, Chelsea, and Olivia; and many lifelong friends Scott considered family including Gary and Karen Ingersoll and Brett and Kelli Maere.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents, G.W. and Vee Carroll.
Scott's warmth, kindness, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Old Channel Inn, 6905 N. Old Channel Trail, Montague, MI 49437, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, where friends and family can come together to share stories and memories.
