Dan Smole

Daniel Smole, who was co-captain of the Sidney High School football team, was found dead February 16, 1975.

He was born January 11, 1957, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin son of Rudolph S. and Geraldine C (Knocke) Smole, 506 Hall Street.

In addition to his parents he is survived by a brother Bart, a senior at Ohio State University; two sisters, Miss Jacquelynn Smole, Dayton, and Karen at home.

Daniel was graduated in January from Sidney High School.  He was co-captain of the football team for the 1974 season, recipient of the "Battered Hat Award" in football for the second year, and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

He was employed at the Monarch Machine Tool Company.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 pm at the church with the Rev. Carl Roepcke and the Rev William Hines officiating.  Burial will be in Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson.  Friends may call at the Cromes Funeral Home Tuesday from 5 to 9pm. Wednesday until noon and at the church from 1 pm until the hour of services. Tuesday at 7 pm, members of the Sidney High School football team and the Sidney High Football Mothers Club will go to the funeral home.
