Cheryl Diane Meiring, born February 28, 1956, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, passed away November 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the oldest of six children, Marjie (Jon) Schoonmaker, Tracy (Tim) Kearns, Bruce Van Fossen, Scott (Sharon) Van Fossen and Kent (Marcia) Van Fossen. Cheryl grew up in a proud military family, moving often before eventually settling in Sidney, Ohio. It was there that she began her journey into motherhood—a role in which she exceeded every expectation with her nurturing, selfless nature.
Cheryl is survived by her devoted husband, Frederick Richard Meiring. Not everyone believes in soulmates, but Fred and Cheryl were truly a match made in heaven. She is also survived by her three children, whom she lovingly raised with her first husband and lifelong friend, Carl Winemiller. Her eldest child is Caren (Joshua) Covey, and their children are Larkin, Avila, and Belle. Her second child is Jared Winemiller, and his children are Cole and Kyndal. Her youngest child is Kelli (Kevin) O’Malley, and their children are Ryann, Jackson, and Patrick.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Kenneth Van Fossen and Ruth Murray as well as her brother Bruce Van Fossen.
Cheryl loved to dance, to laugh, and to spend time with her family—those were her happiest moments. She dedicated many hours to volunteering with hospice, offering comfort and compassion to others during their most difficult times.
She will be remembered for her incredible laugh, the kind that filled a room and lifted every heart. Cheryl cherished the comfort, safety, and unwavering love Fred provided her every step of the way.
The viewing will be held Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, Ohio 45365, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. The funeral at Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, Ohio 45365, Friday, November 21, 2025, at 10:00 am with burial immediately following at Graceland Cemetery.
