In Memory of Ward Warnick (1963-2000)
Ward Warnick was born to *Mamie and Charles Warnick at Wurtsmith AFB Oscoda MI on November 7, 1963. My Buena High School, classmate and close friend passed away, September, 26, 2000 at Provo, Utah. Ward began experiencing extreme headaches prior to September 2000, and went to seek medical attention. He began to head home to his family, after seeing his doctor and was instructed to come back to the hospital for emergency surgery. Ward underwent a 10.5 hour surgery on the brain and did not wake up from the surgical procedure. He passed away during the attempt to remove a tumor in his brain.
Ward had 3 beautiful children with his BYU college sweetheart. Julia was also carrying their 4th child prior to Ward leaving us so suddenly in September, 2000. His mother Mamie Warnick, our Buena High School Drama teacher, and his father Charles Warnick were living in Sierra Vista prior to Ward passing on. They moved to Utah shortly thereafter to help care for their grandchildren and prepare for the arrival of their unborn grandchild.
As my close friend, I enjoyed Ward’s outstanding good natured sense of humor and spending time with Ward: singing, dancing, reading scriptures, hiking, going to the movies, driving through Sierra Vista mud puddles in “The Volkswagen Rabbit.” and my favorite talent of Ward’s was his being able to play anything and everything on the piano. Ward was the best at playing the piano!!! I could sit and listen to Ward play or sing all of my favorite songs for hours.
After High school Ward served a 2 year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Ward was a dedicated and responsible friend, husband to Julia and father to his children.
Ward’s younger sister Tracy (also a close friend), and his brother Shawn also attended Buena High School and currently reside in Utah with their families. In conclusion, I have no doubt that Ward was present for the birth of his 4th child, and continues to watch over his wife Julia and beautiful family in spirit. And although Ward is not with us, I know that I will hear his beautiful music and crazy jokes once again, in the life to come.
