From Karen Derr, Class of 1979.

My heart is so overwhelmed! I just received a call from David Wyrick, who is currently on his way to Sierra Vista from Sonoita. He just received a call from Coach Gucciardo's son Mark. Coach passed away a short time ago. I do not know anymore of the particulars at this moment. Please be in prayer for the family - PJ (Coach's wife of over 50 years, whom he dearly, dearly loved), and their children, Mark and Lisa whom he absolutely adored - as they make their way back to the family home in Sierra Vista this evening, from Tucson and Phoenix.

We (Buena Alumni) have loved this precious man for so many years.  Friday evening, I had the pleasure of spending several hours with Coach, just he and I.  I told him he was a "Hallmark Man", meaning he was one incredibly GREAT man who made a significant impact on the lives of countless others.  He smiled that beautiful smile of his and knew, in the depths of his heart, the truth of what I spoke.  Again last night, David and I spent several more hours with Coach; enjoying every moment, every smile, every laugh, every memory, and every point scored by the UA Men's Basketball team!  He will be dearly missed!
