I was lucky enough to sit next to Nancy in Choir 1 during her senior year. I enjoyed every class because of her wonderful sense of humour and attitude. My sympathies to her family. Rest in peace, Nancy.

I remember Nancy beginning when we were four years old and were flower girls in a wedding. That was our first contact and it was such a memorable good time for both of us. Then when we were five we started kindergarten at Washington Elementary and were in the same class. For our whole elementary years, we were in the same class and shared many things together as well as having healthy competition over who could read the most books or get the best grades!
From there we went to East Junior and East High and two years of Morningside College. Then our paths took divergent routes as I moved to California and she moved to the Minneapolis area. But, thanks to East High reunions we connected again and had some wonderful conversations. Since my husband's family lived in the Minneapolis area, when we would visit them I would take one day to have lunch with Nancy so we have kept in touch over all these years even though we were apart in distance. Her smiles and laughter were always enjoyable and since we were both teachers we had many stories to share.
As she became sick, I would sometimes talk with her on the phone or would hear from her via internet or cards. She always was grateful for Don and spoke of his loving caregiving.
I will certainly miss being able to call or write her.
Memories of a long time friend will endure!!

I am so sorry to hear of Nancy's passing. Nancy and I have been friends since 1st grade at Washington Elementary School where we were in classes together thru 6th grade. We were also Brownie Scouts and Girl Scouts together. Her mother was our Scout Leader for years. We met in their home across the street from the school. Not only were we scouts together, but we also attended the same Presbyterian Church on 6th Ave. for years. Nancy and I have many memories to share about all our scouting activites and MYF/choir activities at church. The last time I saw Nancy was 53 years ago at my bridal shower, but we have kept in touch with each other especially at Christmas time. She will be missed, but her memory lives on in my heart. Rest in Peace, Nancy.

Nancy and I grew up right next door to each other. Our famiies were close and she and I had sleep-overs many times. Unfortunately my dad was transferred when we were in 10th grade so I didn't get to graduate with her and other friends in Sioux City, but Nancy and I kept in contact even after we were each married. The last time we saw each other was at the EHS 30th, 35th or 40th reunion! (It's been awhile!) We always sent each other birthday cards and Christmas cards. I have missed seeing her for many years and I always wished we could have gotten together sometime with our spouses. Rest in peace Nancy.
