David G. Johnson was born October 21, 1943 in Sioux City Ia.  After graduating from East High he graduated from Morningside College, and then Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, MN with a Master of Divinity Degree. He was ordained at Morningside Lutheran Church in 1969. He served churches in Holmen, Wisconsin; Clinton, Wisconsin; Fond du Lac, Wisconsin & Monmouth Illinois.  His congregations were his family and God was his first love.

David Died on April 24, 2001 in Peoria, IL & is burried in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City next to his parents and his brother, Gordon.

I remember that he could read and remember information out of encyclopedias. He never had to struggle with his homework like I did.  We shared many fun times as he was a first cousin.  I have always been very proud to be related to such a fine person.

Do any of you remember working on a float at his home?

If I could figure out how I would upload pictures of David

Did he live on Morningside Avenue not too far from the bypass?  If so, I remember working on a float there.  Maybe this is not the right one.  But we had a blast.

I remember that David and his brothers regularly attended the Municipal Band concerts at the Grandview Park bandshell. (I was there every Sunday evening, since my father played french horn in the band.) There was always community singing, and David and his brothers always sang lustily and with great joy. Apparently, this was the way he led his entire life....

Sorry to be so late, but I have posted some terrific photos of David and his family to his Profile Page.  These photos were handed to me at the Reunion from Janice Forbes Schlotman.  Thanks so much Janice for such a thoughtful tribute to David.
