Sandra K. Christman, 61, of Le Mars, and formerly of Sioux City, died Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at her residence following a nine-month battle with cancer.

Sandra Christman was born July 2, 1943, in Sioux City, the daughter of Clifford L. and Ida R. (Downing) Wilcox. She graduated from East High School in Sioux City in 1961. On Feb. 14, 1964, she married David J. Christman in Sioux City.

Sandy was a lifelong resident of Sioux City until moving to Le Mars in January 2004.

She was a member of the Church of the Nativity in Sioux City and St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars.

Survivors include her husband, David; two daughters, Karri Schrunk and her husband, Don, of Le Mars, and Kimberly Smith of Le Mars; two sons, Charles Christman and his wife, Joyce, and James Christman and his wife, Felicia Muniz, all of Le Mars; one sister, Roxia "Tootie" Lang and her husband, Jess, of Urbandale; one brother, Steven Wilcox and his wife, Charlotte, of Sioux City; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth (Schrunk) Sheldon and her husband, Matthew, of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Wendy Schrunk of Dubuque, Riley Smith of Le Mars, Matthew Horton, Steven Horton and Daisy Christman, all of Le Mars, Janelle Haggin and Justin Haggin, both of Sioux City; two great-grandchildren, John Matthew Sheldon and Justice Haggin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Gilbert "Lee" Wilcox and two sisters, Carmen Mann and Pauline Jessip.

Funeral Mass was at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at Church of the Nativity in Sioux City with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City at a later date.

Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m.

Pallbearers were Tim Wilcox, Cliff Wilcox, Jeff Lang, David Jessip, Peter Steinbach and Jules DeLuca. Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren, Riley Smith, Matthew Horton, Steven Horton, Matthew Sheldon, John Sheldon, Kelly Mann and Terry Mann.
