I always admired Marcie's spunk and fearlessness! She was one of the first girls to play Little League baseball in Sioux City, including playing on an All-Star team for four years. She was a WTF (Tae Kwon Do) fourth degree black belt--a five time Junior National Medalist and a four time Midwest Grand Champion. In her professional life, she was a beloved Spanish teacher in the Dakota Valley School District for thirteen years, where she was Teacher of the Year in 2004. She is survived by a young son, and I know she is truly missed by many.
Thanks for the nice comments Jane. Marcie and I went to school together starting in kindergarten and lived by one another. I have many fond memories. She was so much fun to hang out with, I can't believe all the stuff we use to do. We played softball together. She played first base and me second so many fun times on the field. We also traveled for Siouxland Youth allstar teams, some of the best trips with her to keep us entertained. I'm sad to say along the way Marcie and I lost touch. Once in a while we'd reconnect through e-mail (I remember her e-mail bragging about her new baby boy) and met up a few times at Miles but it wasn't like in high school. I see all the wonderful things she accomplished in her short life and am proud of her. I hope her son knows and remembers what a wonderful person his mom was.
Marcie could play baseball better than most boys when we were in grade school, she was also a black belt in Tae Kwondo. Moslty though she was a big hearted funny person who made me laugh. We played softball together, she was very good at it, I was... not so good, she always tried to help me improve. (even though we both knew it was hopeless!) I have great memories of her always smiling, I never heard her say a negative thing about anyone. I also lost touch with her, I got an email from her on classmates.com maybe 6 months before she died, we had planned to get together some time, but of course we never did. I hope her son will always know what a good hearted and unique person she was.
Rest in Peace Marcie - I hope you find the peace in the after life that you deserve...sorry I couldn't do more reference you're case. I will never forget
