Nicholas R. “Nick” Socknat, 60 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021. Memorial Services will be held 11:00am Monday, May 10, 2021 at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave. Visitation will be held 4-8pm Sunday, May 9, 2021 at the funeral home.
Nicholas Raymond “Nick” Socknat was born March 25, 1961 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Raymond and Denece (Weidert) Socknat. Nick graduated from North High School in 1979. Nick married Kelli in September 1991 in which they raised Nicholas, Tiffany, and Zack from previous relationships and soon after welcomed their son, Beau completing their family.
Nick enjoyed coaching hockey and baseball teams, attending dance recitals, camping, spending time at “The River”, boating, hunting, collecting, and riding motorcycles. Most of all he loved being with his grandchildren. He was a hard-working, prideful man who held jobs in the local community that touched many.
Nick is survived by his parents, Raymond and Denece Socknat of Ely, Minnesota, three sons, Nicholas (Rebecca) of Kingsley, Zack, Beau (Courtney) all of Sioux City, a daughter, Tiffany (Dave) Mazur of Middleton, Wisconsin, a brother, Dan (Nancy) Socknat and family of Sioux City, a sister, Sherri (Verl) Ahlstrom and family of Surprise, Arizona, and 8 grandchildren.
