
Tony Holmberg passed away from his second bout of lung cancer on Jan. 24, 2025. He leaves behind his wife Wendy and son Tony, and grandsons, and his mother and brothers.

Anthony "Tony" Lee Holmberg, 61 of Jackson, NE passed away Friday, January 24, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. Abiding by his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Tony was born the son of Anthony and Emma Jean (Bolton) Holmberg on March 17, 1963 in Oakland, Nebraska. He attended West High and then graduated from North High School in 1981, and then attended Northeast Community College in Norfolk where he met Wendy Petersen. They were married May 22, 1982. They made their home in Sioux City before moving to Jackson in 2004.
Tony and Wendy owned and operated The Lariat Bar in Jackson from 2001 to 2009. Tony worked for Woodbury County in maintenance and law enforcement for many years.
He was a very social guy. He enjoyed visiting with people and cracking jokes. He was a faithful Nebraska sports fan and 49ers fan. In his younger years he was known as "Bird" because of his obsession with Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics.
Tony is survived by his wife, Wendy Holmberg; son, Anthony (Melissa) Holmberg; grandchildren, Jordan and Bently Holmberg; mother, Jean Holmberg; and brothers, LaVerne (Barbara) Holmberg, Timothy (Tammy) Holmberg, and Ronald (Heidi) Holmberg.
