Favorite School Functions

  • I had fun playing football, it was sad that we lost many talented players due to injury, politics or other reasons. When you hit the trenches with someone you don't forget them!
  • Track was a ball, and we did very well. And so did the gals!
  • Polish football in the library was fun too. Todd Wendt almost put my eye out on a field goal!
  • Boys & Girls basketball games were a hoot. We had hot looking cheerleaders (as every sport)...I know I was supposed to be watching the games! What can I say! Matt the Dog!
  • Baseball games were cool!
  • Lets not forget a few of the parties...you all were a ball!
  • Quarters tournaments were fun...I usually did well, but had a big mouth and paid the price later when my supposed Amigos ganged up on me! The only fair player who took no offense to my mouth was Mark Thompson, he shared the wealth! Bless you my friend!
  • Dances...watching Danny Gale do his thing! I was like Steve Martin in the Jerk!  No beat...scary to watch I'm sure!
  • Basically bullshitting with people in our class...and what a class we had, truly a group to remember! I can't think of anyone in our class I didn't like, just a great bunch!

Did you write Polish football? Hey watch it buddy, I represent that remark! (insert smiley face here right Brad?).

Favorite function huh? I'd have to say study halls in the Media Center with Julie. In our three years @ WHS, we managed to rearrange our schedules every semester to meet in the library.

Peace be the journey my friends

I thought about another thing that we all participated in sophomore year in gym class – the Hunter’s Safety Course.

I remember the day we went behind the school and took turns shooting clay pigeons. Each student got three shots. I remember some of the guys giving the girls standing in line a hard time. When it was Julie’s turn, she knocked all three targets out of the air. She was the only student in our gym class to do that. The boys that were giving her crap stood in complete silence.

The grin on her face was priceless.

Peace be the journey my friends

Imagine that in today's world.  Not only were we given guns at school it was demanded that we shoot them on school grounds inside the city limits.  No one even imagined anyone would go crazy and start shooting people.  I admit I thought about shooting a few of you in that moment but I held back and proceeded to miss all three shots.  I didn't trust myself with guns after that day and never picked up another one.
