'79: THE MOVIE Posted Tuesday, June 9, 2009 06:50 PM ...there we were, scurrying class-to-class, when suddenly someone spotted Mr. Cowley holding hands with Ms. Trysla in the hallway...the psuedo-emergency alarm was sounding, for this was one truly wacked-out day...tornado warnings were all over the joint, though we weren't warned to hide under a desk by a weatherman who gets it right only 72% of the time...Mrs. Tarvin, in fact, was debasing a weatherman right in the middle of the basketball bleachers, telling him a 72% performance ratio simply wasn't gonna cut it anymore...Coach Held, who'd been sleeping under the bleachers as usual, was quite upset about his morning nap being eighty-sixed...he quickly began doing sit-ups, and was quite enraged at Kuchel for losing count, as well as getting Wite Out on his ankles...Dennis Weisz was in the parking lot looking for weed smokers, who were having one heckuva time keepin' a cherry fired in such turbulent winds...Joice Pratt came onto the scene for a brief cameo, loading Nina Hartley videos into something that resembled a lawn mower (which turned out to be the '79 version of a VCR)...for some reason, it was already one hundred degrees...you could hear Wayne Brown demanding Rogstad let the football team out immediately for fifteen one-hundred-yard sprints...Rob Keilman, fresh from psychotherapy for missing the Elk Point Fishing Tournament, was carrying a bright orange-red clipboard, sporting an earring that would make Crispin Glover proud...the scene quickly cut back to Cowley, who was expressing his disappointment to Trysla for not getting any action in the Action Center...suddenly someone was announcing that Coca Cola in cans caused a thing called Alzheimer's, which the entire football team would have gladly traded for vapor-locking at an early age........... |
