Songs from the 70's that drove you crazy

Mine.

"Shannon". The song about the little dog that swims out in the ocean and drowns (somebody needed to do that to the singer).

"Billy don't be a hero". For some reason I always saw a movie of the week coming from this song.

And the number one song that absolutely drove me up the wall.

"You light up my life" by Debbie Boone.

Peace be the journey my friends

Tracy,

If you knew me better you would know there was nothing accidental about what that baby is doing in the picture. Just me being me.  And yes that is one disturbed kid.

FINALLY someone with the GUTS to say it:

"Old Time Rock 'n' Roll" SUCKS!!!  YES, YES IT DOES!  Can we PLEASE KILL IT and put us out of our misery!  I guess in fairness, it didn't originally suck so bad.  But now we can't go 15 minutes without hearing it.

So I guess that means if that song is played at the reunion, we won't see you on the dance floor?

Peace be the journey my friends

Would take a LOT of alcohol to get me to dance to that song.  Then again, it takes a lot to get me on any dance floor to dance at all.  Think Elaine on Seinfeld and you are pretty close to my moves.  There is only ONE guy who REALLY belongs on the dance floor.  The guy every gal from our class WANTS to dance with.  And we all know who he is.  He is going to be one busy guy on reunion weekend.

thank you thank you Thomps for listing 'Seasons In The Sun'

I actually almost vomited just typing that. Niedermeyer-Dead! Terry Jacks-Dead!

worst song ever.

and now....there are some songs from the 70s that were never on my radar screen growing up, but have now created a negative visceral reaction because classic rock radio overplays these songs ad nauseum. (the classic rock radio box of records is so bad I stopped listening to it years ago)

which songs? most of them are from Bad Company. overplayed shite. anything from Neil Young. douchebag.  and even Sweet Home Alabama. gag.

we had some good rock and soul/funk in the 70s...but a lot of the pop music was effed.

but we weren't unique. The Naughties has the Ting Tings. Just SHOUT all the lyrics. That's real talent.

bloody hell

just sayin.....

I disagree with you & Mark that the song sucks. But I concur that it's played way too much on the classic rock station here in town.

Now that we all know your true feelings for this song Bruce, maybe, just maybe, somebody at the reunion might slip the DJ $20.00 to play that song just for you . . . every 15 minutes or so.

Peace be the journey my friends

Cats.  Ick.

Here's a song I always liked and hadn't heard in years.  Then heard it other day on sat. radio.  Still like it, but I was definately in the minority and some hated it with a passion.  "Back When My Hair Was Short." by Gunhill Road.  Produced by...Kenny Rogers.  Wierd.

And don't bother with the various short jokes as I have already thought of them before you did...you know, "Back when my legs were short", "Back when Bruce Zook was short", "Back when my ____ was short" etc.

Bob,

Sweet Home Alabama - I still believe that this song will get major play time 100 years from now.

A few years back I flew into Birmingham, AL. My niece picked me up and when I reached over to turn on the radio, guess what song was playing?

She hates that song.

Peace be the journey my friends

Good for her. I am just amazed at how awful the box of records is on music radio, and especially classic rock radio. if we ran a station i guarantee we'd do it better. anything overplayed just sticks in my craw. and funny thing....neil young is a target of that sweet home alabama song too.

one Bob Seger song that still makes my workout playlist. Roll Me Away. Don't think I've ever heard it on classic rock radio.
