Damon was a nice guy! He was part of our 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relays in track that were very successful...qualifing for state and Drake Relays multiple times. We won many medals and ribbons together and we could not have done it without him! Damon joined the army shortly after high school and I really didn't get to see him much after that. Gone but not forgotten!

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, with the Rev. H.C. McGruder officiating. Burial will be at Logan Park Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Damon Stuart Daniels was born July 17, 1961 in Sioux City, the son of James and Myrtle (Pullins) Daniels. He was educated in the Sioux City area, graduating from West High School in 1979. He was a member of the West High track team and his relay team qualified for the Drake Relays. He served in the U.S. Army for three years as a driver for the officers and received several driving awards. He was stationed in New Jersey and spent 18 months in Germany.
He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Damon enjoyed drawing and painting and watching sitcoms from the 1970s.
Survivors include his mother, Myrtle Daniels of Sioux City; four brothers, David E. Daniels of Sioux Falls, S.D., Daryl M. and Derek A. Daniels of Sioux City and Duane J. Daniels of Wylie, Texas; two sisters, Diana L. Daniels of Inglewood, Calif. and Darla J. Burns of Sioux City; five nieces; four nephews; two great nieces; and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, James M. "Slick" Daniels; and a sister, Donna Kay Daniels.
Pallbearers will be David, Daryl and Duane Daniels. Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Tillman, Rick Lee and Butch Irvin.
Damon was a pleasant soft-spoken pal who never asked anything of anyone. He was always kind; it’s one of his many good and memorable traits. Life interrupted when so young is almost never a good thing. We can all hope he is enjoying his time on the other side.
