Sandra Dee (Auen) Meis, 44, of Sioux City died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at her residence.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kevin Lee officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mrs. Meis was born May 20, 1959, in Sioux City, the daughter of Robert and June Auen. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. She graduated from North High School in 1978.

She managed the Dears Portrait Studio from 1980 to 1992. She was an administrator for Siouxland Dental Health from 1988 to 1995.

She served on the board of STARS, Junior Women, Girls Scouts of America, Girls Inc., the Junior League and served as chair and co-chair of the Santa House. She did volunteer work for Marian Health Center's Light a Child Campaign. She was active in the P.T.A. at Clark School and the P.E.O. She served as president of the American Dental Association of Des Moines.

She is survived by two daughters, Candice and her husband, Dominic Hayes, of Sioux City, and Samantha Meis of Sioux City; her parents; three brothers, Robert Auen and his wife, Lydia, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Leo Lyman and his wife, Kelly, of Sioux City and David Lyman of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two sisters, Cheryl Sitzmann of Sioux City and Catherine Lyman of Colorado Springs.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, LeRoy and Reindina Swanson.

Pallbearers will be Leo Lyman, Bob Meis, Luon Nguyen, John Persinger, Mike Frankeley and Dennis Newberg.

A memorial will be established in her name.
