SIOUX CITY -- Kip D. Jarman, 39, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Bob Rasmussen officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Kip was born June 15, 1969, in Grand Forks, N.D., to Douglas and Marsha (Diede) Jarman. He received his education in Sioux City, graduating from West High School with the class of 1987. After high school, he attended several classes and seminars for his mechanic position at Ideal Wheels, where he worked with his father and the Ideal Wheels crew for more than 10 years.
During this time, he continued his education at Western Iowa Tech Community College, receiving his EMT-P certificate. He worked on the ambulance crew in Onawa, Iowa, as a paramedic while helping his father build the Jarman Auto Sales dealership in Sioux City. His father passed away in 1999 and he took over the family business, maintaining Jarman Auto Sales until the sale of the business in July 2008.
He enjoyed auto racing, owning and driving his own race car at numerous tracks around the area including Jefferson Speedway, Interstate Speedway and the Alta, Iowa, race track. He was the Interstate Speedway track champ in 1993. He enjoyed all water sports and had several jet skis and boats over the past years. He was a friend of Bill W. He loved his cat, Kiwi, recently rejoined a gym in Sioux City and continued his longtime interest in weight-lifting. He also enjoyed riding his custom motorcycle, which he helped build.
He is survived by his daughter, Brittnie Willett and her boyfriend, Andrew Woolery of Sergeant Bluff; his mother, Marsha Jarman-Aman and her husband, John of McCook Lake, S.D.; sisters, Nichole Jarman-Petersen and her husband, Robert of Sioux City and Tracy Nordstrom and her husband, Ken of rural Brookings, S.D.; maternal grandmother, Verda Diede of Sioux City; nieces and nephew, Savanah Jarman, Hailey Petersen, Emiley Petersen and Trent Jarman; and additional extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas; maternal grandfather; and his paternal grandparents.
